Something more beneficial to the genre of ‘Romance’ after long time in Tamil cinema. It’s so much pleasing to see Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum favours the ones who ardently looked up for movies of romance presented in a decent panache that could be watched with family audiences. Nalan Kumarasamy excels with this film, a remake of famous Korean movie ‘My Dear Desperado’. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi, Madonna Sebastian and Samuthirakani in lead roles with Santhosh Narayanan composing music.
The film opens with Madonna Sebastian coming to Chennai for seeking a high profile in IT industry. After enjoying a happy life with good pay and luxurious life, things turn into deplorable situation, when her office shuts down the operation and she is urged by situations to occupy a small house for affordable rent and she can search a new job from there. She comes across her neighbour (Vijay Sethupathi), who has just now come from jail after serving 7 years of sentence for a crime he didn’t commit. The episodes that happen in these contrastive characters who get acquainted by times is the complete film all about.
Vijay Sethupathi makes a commendable performance and he easily carries away the applause. Madonna Sebastian is pleasingly beautiful and her performance is top-notch. The sequences that involve both of them drinking together and the one, where Vijay Sethupathi manages to offer a scintillating drama to let Madonna attend the interview is fantastic. Nalan Kumarasamy has established a prominent craftsmanship of penning substantial screenplay. Although the moments are slow, it is so much enjoyable with best emotions conveyed.
Musical score by Santhosh Narayanan is best and the BGM is remarkable. The cinematography is top-notch and editing has smooth transitions, which is worthy of appreciations.
Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum is a decent love story that deserves a watch among elite audiences club.
